Unit price perThis liquor has a crisp taste like high-quality wine, with a refreshing sweetness and acidity, and is made by diluting the nectar of horse chestnut flowers, which grow naturally at an altitude of 600m to 800m in Aizu, with underground water from the Iide mountain range, inoculating it with yeast, and slowly fermenting it for about a month. The honey used as the raw material is pressed by beekeepers in the morning, and the bees fly during the night to dry the honey, resulting in a high-quality raw material with a high concentration that is resistant to deterioration. It can be chilled at around 0 to 4 degrees Celsius as an aperitif, or chilled at around 8 to 12 degrees Celsius as a dessert wine. Aizu Mead goes well with any type of cuisine, Japanese, Western, or Chinese, but is recommended with prosciutto and cheese salads. It is also said that ancient Germanic peoples drank mead for one month after their wedding. This was called the honey moon, and is said to be the origin of the modern word honeymoon.
