Honey harvesting area details	Located in the Kyushu Mountains inland of Miyazaki Prefecture, the village is entirely mountainous, with many mountains within its boundaries. The population is around 3,000. It is a two-hour drive from Kumamoto Airport and a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Miyazaki Airport. It is said to be one of Japan's three most remote regions, and is the site of the legend of the Heike clan's refugees. The village is home to precious natural resources such as the Okubo cypress and Hachimura cedar, both of which are nationally designated natural monuments, and much of the village area is designated as part of the Kyushu Central Mountains Quasi-National Park.
