Mount Hermos is a 2,355m-high mountain in Greece's Peloponnese Peninsula. The entire mountain has been designated a national park to protect its beautiful scenery and ecosystem. Most of the mountain is covered with Greek fir (Erato) trees, making it one of the producers of high-quality Erato honey. Known as the Christmas tree, Greek fir is an evergreen coniferous tree that grows at altitudes of 25-35m and has a trunk diameter of up to 1m. It grows at altitudes of over 900m. Only Erato honey with a beautiful vanilla-colored sheen, produced by bees absorbing the white secretions left on the tree, is called Erato vanilla.
