| Honey harvesting area | Takahata Town, Higashiokitama District, Yamagata Prefecture, Nagai City |
| Honey harvesting area details | Located in Higashiokitama District in the southeastern part of Yamagata Prefecture, Takahata Town is a beautiful, fertile town built on the alluvial fan of the Yashiro and Wada Rivers, which originate deep in the mountains of Oshu. Valuable ancient tombs and cave shelters are scattered among the mountains and hills. Rice cultivation thrives in the fertile flatlands, while grapes, apples, pears, and other fruit trees flourish in the mountainous areas. Nagai City, meanwhile, is located in the southwestern part of the prefecture and boasts a rich natural and historical background. The Mogami River, which flows through the city, has long supported the region's agriculture and industry. Nagai also flourished as the castle town of the Nagai Domain during the Edo period, where traditional woodworking and textile industries flourished. These industries continue to play an important role in the city's economic activities today. The apiary is located along the Omonogawa River, where many Robinia pseudoacacia trees grow, and has been passed down through generations of beekeepers. |
